HALL BEACH, NUNAVUT TO TORONTO, ONT. = 1735 miles, 2792 km

ABOUT US

So who are we, and why are we asking for your help?  We are nine 10 year old grade 5 students (and one from grade 6) who have never been outside of Nunavut.  We read about trees, waterfalls, tall buildings and millions of people from all kinds of different cultures but we've never actually seen these things and we would very much like to.  We would like nothing more than to go to a beach with sand (Hall Beach is gravel...gravel...and more gravel), see a building taller than two stories, go to the science museum to see dinosaurs and cool science experiments, see Niagara Falls and if we're very lucky, go to see an NHL game because we're big hockey fans here!

Our first language is Inuktitut, we wear Amautis and Kamiks.  Polar bears regularly visit our town in the winter.  We hunt caribou, walrus and seal and fish for Arctic Char to eat.  We are typical kids in that we love to play on the monkey bars, play games and play with our friends.  We are not so typical in that our language, clothes and customs are very different than those of you who live south of the Arctic Circle.  Our fondest wish is to visit another grade 5 class and meet other children our own age....that and go up the CN Tower of course! The only thing between us and an incredible experience is money.  Please help us reach our goal. Thank you.
